Oualidia

Oualidia is a sleepy village overlooking a stunning coastal lagoon (the finest in North Africa), a perfect place for those seeking relaxation at a relatively undiscovered location offering a terrific variety of outdoor activities, including safe swimming, camping and bird watching

Oualidia is located on the Atlantic coast 3 hours' drive from Marrakech, and 2 hours from Casablanca airport.  The resort sits on the southern edge of a large tidal lagoon, which attracts humans and birds alike, and is famous for its oysters.  The lagoon has very calm waters compared with the Atlantic Ocean which lies beyond the bar, which protects the lagoon

A place for all seasons: come here in summer for the festive atmosphere, in autumn for the birds and the warm sea, in winter for peace and sunshine and in spring for birds and flowers. Oualidia enjoys a very temperate climate, with pleasant weather all year round, and is thus an ideal all year round destination. The microclimate results in around 320 days sunshine per annum.

Things to do and see:

Water sports for active travelers: wind and kite surfing, canoeing and kayaking, boating and fishing.

Other sports and activities: Bike riding, walking, tennis and sunbathing.

For relaxation: The luxury hotel outside the village center offers a wonderful spa including a heated pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, hammam and massage rooms.

Outdoor activities: Bird watching all year round, though the best time for this hobby is spring or autumn in order to see the great migration of flamingoes, the marbled duck and many others. Whale watching is also possible between August and October.

History and culture:  There are ancient forts and Kasbahs at several villages in the vicinity notably at the vast Gharbia Kasbah, the pottery making in Safi, the lovely walled medina of Portuguese origin at El Jadida including the fortification of Mazagan, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lalla Fatna, a couple kilometers outside the main village provides an alternative beach.
