Erfoud
Erfoud is a vivacious small town located in between the massif of Atlas Mountains and the western desert limits. It is the main town in the Ziz valley and the first and principal gate to the golden sand. It was selected by the French authorities during the thirties to be an administrative center for the biggest oases in Morocco.
The city offers sundry panoramas such as palm groves, magnificent immense Oases, fantastic sand dunes and splendid Kasbahs. Erfoud has unique surroundings especially Erg Chebbi where the famous sand dunes of strong red colored provoke admiration and amazement.
Visiting the city is worthwhile and is also an opportunity to see the annual traditional date harvest celebration.
